We Repair the Gate Operators Other Companies Replace
That sentence is the whole company. Everything else on this page explains why we are able to say it — and why so few of our competitors can.
Where we came from
Shield Gate Repair built its business in California, servicing automatic gates across Los Angeles, Orange, Ventura and Santa Barbara counties — residential estates, apartment communities, commercial yards and everything in between.
We are now bringing that operation to Dallas–Fort Worth. Same technicians, same approach, same refusal to sell an operator when a control board would do.
We say this plainly for a reason. Every photograph and every case study on this site documents real work by our own team — and most of it was carried out during our California operations. We are not going to caption a job in Santa Barbara as a Dallas driveway to make the story tidier. Texas work will appear here as we complete it.
What travels between markets is not photographs. It is knowing that a humming LiftMaster is a capacitor, that an All-O-Matic clutch slipping means the gate is binding, and that a DoorKing entry panel goes silent months after a VoIP migration. That knowledge works identically in North Texas.
Why we repair instead of replace
Replacing a gate operator is easier than diagnosing one, and it carries a considerably better margin. That is why so many gate companies do it, and why customers so often hear that a perfectly serviceable unit is finished.
A control board is a few hundred dollars. A new operator is a few thousand. The difference between those two numbers is almost entirely a question of whether the technician standing in your driveway can be bothered to test before recommending.
We have built the business the other way round. If it is a repair, we do not sell you an operator — and when replacement genuinely is the cheaper decision, we will tell you that too, with the reasoning.

How we work
The gate before the operator
We release the operator and move the gate by hand before touching anything electrical. It separates a mechanical bind from an electrical fault, and it is the step most call-outs skip — which is how healthy operators get replaced.
A price before we start
Diagnose, quote, then you decide. The number we say is the number you pay, and you hear it before any work begins rather than after.
Parts on the truck
Control boards, capacitors, limit switches, sensors and remotes for the operators we see most. Most repairs finish on the first visit, and when a part genuinely has to be ordered we say so on the day.
In writing, every time
Parts used, work done, and the warranty terms. If it fails, we come back.
